The International Academy of Comic Book Arts and Sciences™ or IACBAS™ is an international organization founded in 1997 in Los Angeles to help drive the creative, technical, educational, and professional progress of the comic book art form in traditional publishing, media and evolving forms of interactive and digital media. Also known as the "Comic Book Academy", the organization is also responsible for "The Annual Comic Book Awards," which honors achievement in all areas of Comic & Graphic Arts every year in December. The judging body is composed of over two thousand industry experts, including comic book store owners, publishers, creators, writers, artists, press, influencers and other digital professionals from around the globe.
